The job that started it

I built the tool I kept wishing I had.

I got sent to troubleshoot a run of network devices — short each one back to the switch, test the cable, then the next one, and the next. Routine work. Then someone needed the details back: the port, the serial, the MAC address, the device number itself.

By then I'd done a dozen other things. Pulling all of that back out of my head — accurately, hours later — was the hardest part of the whole job.

That's when it clicked. The fix isn't a better memory. It's being able to record it as I go — hands-free, right while I'm looking at the device.

The job behind CCTV Survey Pro

A mom-and-pop shop needed coverage they couldn't afford.

A little family-run restaurant asked me to put in cameras. Small budget — but they needed real coverage: the floor, the register, the back door. I walked it, ran the survey right, and the only honest number I could hand them was well over what they had to spend.
